Description: Alexander Girard brought a seductive and playful dimension to twentieth-century design that was missing from the austere aesthetic of classical modernism. This can be seen clearly in the Ceramic Containers collection. The original model of this container was made with wood, turned by hand by Girard on a lathe in his workshop. Their shapes are reminiscent of traditional pharmacy vases, board game pieces of even milliners’ tools. Based on these models, Vitra has developed these beautiful moulded ceramic pots, the natural material giving them a handmade look. Hand-dyed in shades from Girard's rich colour palette, these containers are suitable for storing odds and ends, keys, coins and other objects.Designed by Alexander Girard
