Elijah Craig has long been a favourite bourbon of many whiskey enthusiasts - to the point where their stocks of 12 year old bourbon have been under a lot of pressure. The producers made the decision to discontinue the 12 Year Old expression and create this expression to take its place. It manages to maintain the incredibly high quality that Elijah Craig is known for, including the delicious core of cooked apple drizzled in honey notes. This expression has been well received, taking home not one but two San Francisco World Spirits Competition Double Gold medals!

Product Description

Elijah Craig, owned by the brilliant Heaven Hill, is one of the most well-known bourbon brands around the world. The name itself harks back to Reverend Elijah Craig, whom has been said to be the inventor of bourbon as we known it. Bourbon (as we know it) must be matured in new, charred oak casks. Many people claim that the first documented case of this happening was at Craig’s distillery around 1789 (Reverends can have distilleries if they want - everyone needs a hobby). Some people say there was a fire, some barrels got charred, Craig used the barrels anyway and found that he enjoyed the impact the charred casks had on the whiskey. Like a lot of great discoveries, bourbon might have been an accident.

The core release from the Elijah Craig range is the Elijah Craig Small Batch. They also regularly release single barrel bottlings, which are much loved here at MoM Towers.

Tasting Notes

Baked apples with a dusting of cinnamon, followed by fresh honey and cookie dough.

Hand or machine wash on a cool, gentle cycle with similar colours. Avoid harsh chemicals or stain removers, which can affect the colour.
