Overview: Aia Vecchia is situated deep in the Tuscan countryside between Bolgheri and Castagneto Carducci and next to the Tyrrhenian coast, an area where a particularly favorable microclimate and ideally suited soils make possible the production of very high quality wines, known as Bolgheri. Some of Italy’s best known producers have a long and successful wine producing history here.
The owners, the Pellegrini Family, have been grape growers in the Bolgheri area for several generations and decided to found Aia Vecchia in 1996 with the mission to create a portfolio of small lot, high quality wines.
Tasting Notes: In the glass, the wine is deep ruby with purple hues. On the nose, the wine is delicate with notes of cherry, vanilla, raw beef and herbs. On the palate, it is dry, structured and elegant with flavors of plum, ripe cherries, wild berries and a hint of spice, followed by a lengthy and smooth finish that begs for food
Pairing: This wine is very versatile and would pair well with both red and white meats, various pasta dishes and hard cheeses.
