Overview: Darioush Khaledi was instilled at an early age with the winemaking craft of his father, inspired by wine culture in the literary city of Shiraz - in modern day Iran - and the ancient city of Persepolis. He became a lifelong collector, seeking out old world wines infused with tradition and energized by modern technique.
Aromatic complexity and typicity is the hallmark of Darioush Signature Merlot. Our meticulous vineyard practices, the unique microclimates and soils from our Southern Napa Valley vineyards atop Mount Veeder and on the Valley floor naturally restrict, concentrate and carefully ripen this noble Bordeaux variety to coax a plush yet focused wine.
Tasting Notes: Deep floral and enticing dark plum aromas introduce a poised and polished Merlot. Winegrowing on our high elevation Sage Vineyard on Mount Veeder provides power and earthy complexity to the wine's core, while our valley floor estates lend a more saturated profile of vibrant fruits. A refined medley of dark Rainier cherries and dried cranberries are accentuated by savory notes of oolong tea, cinnamon stick, and Tahitian vanilla.
