Overview: This single vineyard Kessler-Haak Syrah is the first in our portfolio from the West Sta. Rita Hills. Only 12 miles from the Pacific Ocean and just north of Point Conception, Kessler Haak Vineyard is an extremely cool site- especially for Syrah. The vineyard is relatively low lying at 367 ft in elevation. Northwest ocean winds naturally chill the vines and help prolong ripening time. Sandy loam soils provide excellent drainage and limit nutrient availability for the vines. Ultimately, these sandy soils help to naturally limit yields and produce fruit with concentrated and intense flavor. Farmed 100% organically by Dan Kessler, we are excited to begin working with this vineyard for years to come.
Tasting notes: This savory expression of Syrah elicits aromas of dried herb de provence and green olive. On the palate, it exhibits a bouquet of rose petal and violet with a sprinkling of wet asphalt. The floral nature of the wine continues on the finish with a light tannic structure. Drink now or cellar for future enjoyment.
