Abraham Overholt (1784-1870) set the standard for American Rye when he established Overholt Rye Whiskey production in 1810. The unruly farmer and entrepreneur from Pennsylvania stood by his principles in wanting to create positive change for his family and community, producing an authentic and high-quality Rye whiskey known for its robust flavor and uncompromising production methods.

Recognized as America's oldest continually maintained rye whiskey, Overholt has seen a thing or two over the centuries. Produced, sold, and marketed through pandemics, wars, and even through Prohibition, Overholt has been consistently focused—consistent in quality and spirit—since 1810. From the beginnings on Abraham's family farm in PA, to today's production at the Jim Beam distillery in Kentucky, the Overholt name continues to represent the strong-willed tradition of never cutting corners and the unwavering work ethic of the man whose characteristic frown is reflected in his portrait that still graces the bottle today.

This high-proof Straight Rye Whiskey pays tribute to our ryes produced during the Prohibition era. And cut to 114 proof, it is rooted in a traditional maturation barrel strength of the time. Rich and robust, the American Rye is perfect for sipping or in a high-proof cocktail.
