Sparkman - Pearl Sauvignon Blanc - Columbia Valley

Overview: We (Kelly, Mom/President/Founding Winemaker and Chris Sparkman, Dad/President/Founding Winemaker) launched Sparkman Cellars in Woodinville, Washington in 2004 to focus on our family. In Year One we made one baby girl, 12 barrels of wine (289 cases) and three labels in a tiny warehouse. In Year Three we made another baby girl, opened our first tasting room, made 1425 cases of wine and eight labels. We have now grown our annual production to over 12,000 cases in our shiny new winery, tasting room and event hall at the old Redhook Brewery in Woodinville. The babies are now in high school. We remain a family owned and operated winery committed to making wines that are considered among the finest in the world. 

Pearl was Kelly's first solo wine project, spawned in 2009 from her love of New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs. Pearl was named in honor of Kelly's great grandmother who drove around in a pearl Cadillac convertible and drank Tennessee whiskey. The style is both mineral and fruit driven, like if Sancerre and New Zealand made a Sauvignon Blanc baby. 

Tasting Notes: This may be our favorite vintage of Pearl ever. All the pieces just came together beautifully. Bright zesty fruit flavors, richness and texture, and wonderful balance. Our Pearl Sauvignon Blanc leads with a nose of grapefruit, lemongrass, lime, pear, passion fruit, fresh herbs and minerals, followed by wet stone. A bright light in our vinous universe.

Pairing: Anything from the ocean, but oysters for sure. Shigokus and kushis are the best.

Hand or machine wash on a cool, gentle cycle with similar colours. Avoid harsh chemicals or stain removers, which can affect the colour.
